Pre hearing information
The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that in a letter written in November 2008, Dr McFarlane encouraged Patient A, a vulnerable patient, to change GP to another GP when there was no clinical justification for doing so, with the intention to conceal the nature of her relationship with Patient A.
It is also alleged that, between April 2008 and January 2014, and after Patient A was transferred to another GP at the surgery, Dr McFarlane received a series of gifts from Patient A which affected the manner of her interaction with Patient A. Further, it is alleged that between July 2011 and January 2013, Dr McFarlane received a number of payments from Patient A which she failed to disclose. It is alleged that Dr McFarlane’s conduct was dishonest.
This reflects the allegation as it stands at the start of the hearing. The allegation may be amended as the hearing proceeds and when findings of fact are made by the tribunal.
All decisions are published online within 28 days of the conclusion of the hearing.
