Pre hearing information
The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that, in April 2016 Dr Al Ahmar had a consultation with Patient A at Scarborough Eye Clinic, during which he failed to identify the higher than average surgical risk of cataract surgery, examine Patient A’s eyelids, obtain adequate informed consent and make adequate records.
It is further alleged that in May 2016, Dr Al Ahmar failed to adequately perform the procedure as he misplaced the intraocular lens within the ciliary sulcus, and failed to record the reasons for prescribing Acetazolamide.
This reflects the allegation as it stands at the start of the hearing. The allegation may be amended as the hearing proceeds and when findings of fact are made by the tribunal.
All decisions are published online within 28 days of the conclusion of the hearing.
