Pre hearing information

The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that on 10 July 2016 Dr Dissanayake consulted with a patient and failed to obtain an adequate history, conduct an adequate examination, and consider adequately or at all the information available to him. It is further alleged that during the consultation, Dr Dissanayake failed to appropriately diagnose the cause of Patient A’s back pain, adequately consider and conduct a risk assessment for an alternative diagnosis, arrange adequate investigations, commence anticoagulant treatment, arrange adequate follow up and inappropriately discharged the patient.

It is alternatively alleged that Dr Dissanayake failed to record a number of factors, including the patient’s history, examination and any treatment plan and follow up.

This reflects the allegation as it stands at the start of the hearing. The allegation may be amended as the hearing proceeds and when findings of fact are made by the tribunal.

All decisions are published online within 28 days of the conclusion of the hearing.
