Pre hearing information
The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that in August 2017, at Buryfields Sexual Health Clinic, Dr Hettiarachchi carried out an intimate examination of Patient A, prior to which he failed to provide adequate information and obtain consent. Dr Hettiarachchi subsequently met the patient, and contacted them by email and text, including asking the patient to withdraw the complaint to the GMC, which it is alleged was dishonest.
Additionally, it is alleged that in September 2017, following a consultation at the clinic with Patient B, Dr Hettiarachchi contacted them on 2 occasions using their personal contact details, which was not clinically justified.
This reflects the allegation as it stands at the start of the hearing. The allegation may be amended as the hearing proceeds and when findings of fact are made by the tribunal.
All decisions are published online within 28 days of the conclusion of the hearing.
