Pre hearing information

The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that on 2 May 2018, at Poole Magistrate’s Court, Dr Alner was convicted of stealing food items from Tesco on 15 April 2016 and driving a motor vehicle whilst over the alcohol limit on three occasions between April 2016 and April 2017. It is alleged that Dr Alner was sentenced to 26 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 18 months and was disqualified from driving for five years. The tribunal will also inquire into the allegation that Dr Alner failed to notify the GMC without delay that he had been charged and convicted of the above offences.

Further, the tribunal will inquire into the allegation that in or around April 2016 Dr Alner applied for a position at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and failed to inform the Trust that he had been charged with the offences set out above, and made untrue verbal assurances and written declarations that he had fully disclosed to the Trust his involvement with the Police.

In addition, the tribunal will inquire into the allegation that on 6 May 2016 Dr Alner gave untrue evidence at an MPT Review hearing. It is further alleged that Dr Alner breached conditions placed on his registration.

This reflects the allegation as it stands at the start of the hearing. The allegation may be amended as the hearing proceeds and when findings of fact are made by the tribunal.

All decisions are published online within 28 days of the conclusion of the hearing.
