Pre hearing information
The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that, in or around December 2016, Dr Aziz Abid Simawi sent an email to King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) advising that he would be abroad attending a conference between 20 and 27 February 2017. It is alleged that Dr Aziz Abid Simawi's actions were dishonest as he knew that he had not arranged to attend a conference on those dates. It is further alleged that, on 13 February 2017, Dr Aziz Abid Simawi submitted to the Trust an application for study leave including supporting documents that he knew were falsified. It is alleged that his actions were dishonest.
It is further alleged that, during the course of the Trust investigation into his attendance at the conference, Dr Aziz Abid Simawi dishonestly made false statements and submitted falsified documentation. It is also alleged that, in November 2017, Dr Aziz Abid Simawi submitted documentation to an Interim Orders Tribunal which he knew to be false and that his actions were dishonest.
In addition, it is alleged that, in December 2017, Dr Aziz Abid Simawi submitted an application for a post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Anaesthetics at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and dishonestly stated that he was not subject to a fitness to practise investigation. It is also alleged that Dr Aziz Abid Simawi made dishonest representations in the course of his application.
Finally, it is alleged that Dr Aziz Abid Simawi commenced working at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in breach of a condition imposed on his registration by the Interim Orders Tribunal requiring him to notify the GMC of any post that he had accepted before starting it.
This reflects the allegation as it stands at the start of the hearing. The allegation may be amended as the hearing proceeds and when findings of fact are made by the tribunal.
