Can I attend a hearing?

All public tribunal hearings can be observed by members of the press and public. We run hearings in-person from our hearing centre in Manchester as well as virtually.

Details of whether a hearing is taking place in Manchester or remotely can be found on each hearing record on the hearings and decisions section of our website.

You cannot record, broadcast or take photos of any hearing.

Observing an in-person hearing

In-person hearings can be observed from a public gallery at the back of a hearing room. If you wish to observe an in-person hearing, please let us know in advance where possible by completing our observe a hearing form.

Members of the press should contact the press office.

Observing a virtual hearing

Virtual hearings can be observed remotely via MS Teams. Before access can be granted we will ask for proof of your name and address, and for your express agreement with our terms of access. More details about these requirements can be found within our observe a hearing form. Please complete this form at least 48 hours before the start of the hearing you wish to observe to allow us to make the necessary arrangements.

If you are a party to a hearing or a witness, we have guidance about attending a virtual hearing.

Start and finish times

Hearings usually start between 9-9.30am and finish between 4.30-5pm.

The day includes comfort breaks and a lunch break.

Disabled access

Wheelchair access to our building is via the main building entrance and lifts are available to all floors. Hearing loops are available in our hearing rooms.

If you have any specific requirements, please let us know in advance and we'll do all we can to assist you.

Children

Please don't bring children. Our staff can't take responsibility for any children, even for short periods.
