Voluntary erasure applications
Voluntary erasure is the process where a doctor requests to be removed from the register.
A doctor may request voluntary erasure for a number of reasons including moving overseas, retirement or for other reasons that mean they are no longer able to or wish to practise as a doctor.
The GMC will usually manage requests for voluntary erasure as part of their registration services, but where there are fitness to practise concerns the request for voluntary erasure will be considered by an MPTS tribunal.
