The Welsh Language Standards, introduced as part of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011, provide a legal framework which gives individuals in Wales the right to receive certain services through the medium of Welsh. The Measure also created the role of the Welsh Language Commissioner (WLC), who is responsible for monitoring compliance with the standards.
